Some Mysteries

I thought it would be fun to share some of the mysteries I have discovered on my journey of discovery. In time they may be solved or understood better, or maybe not. Perhaps there is somebody out there who has solved or understood what I think of as a mystery. I suspect that the vast majority arise because of a misunderstanding on my part, or that the available records are erroneous in some way. I am sure that there are many cases where the individuals concerned have for their own reasons lied or at least been economical with the truth. But at the moment they remain mysteries.

In no particular order....

Annie Florence DAY (born 1889)
She reportedly fell or was pushed into the River Thames and was rescued. What happened? Was there a confrontation?

Abraham Ambrose DENNIS (1829-1889)
He was born at Boxley Cistercian Abbey according to ?????. Why... ?

Elizabeth DEWAR (1782-??) or maybe Catherine MCNAUGHTAN (1774-??)
According to a family story, one of them seems to be part of a very talented family. But which one, and is there any evidence now for this talent?

Edward JV DESBOROUGH (1864-1946)
Was he a director of a significant company, or was he just a worker with a wicked sense of humour?.....

Frank FIELDING (1865-1929)
He seems to have died alone on a Yorkshire moor, and his body was not found for 2 years. But why did he not use the money for a bus, and why did nobody look for him?.....

Ann MERRIDON (1853-1896)
Her father is unknown - one possibility is that it is her older brother - and it is likely that her children resulted from a relationship with a married man. Understanding this story is challenging.....
