Family Patrick FISHER, b. 1784, Kenmore, Perthshire
d. 1825, Kenmore, Perthshire
(Age 41 years) Marriage 19 Nov 1808 Dull, Perthshire
[2] Notes - Some of the sources I have looked at have the marriage in Dull, although some sources indicate that they were married in Weem, which is now a neighbouring parish. Dull is preferred as this appears to be Elizabeth's home parish. The situation is complicated by the fact that the parish boundaries were changed in 1889, so it is possible that they were married in Weem, especially as the information comes from transcripts of the original document.
They were tenant farmers in Murthly, near Dunkeld.

Notes - Her place of birth (Brae of Pitcastle) is described by the McKercher Index as "The heights of the farm/estate at the castle", and is North East of Pitcastle itself.
Information on the Internet suggests she died in or before 1831.
Family data says that she was sister to
a herb doctor
a translator of the NT into Gaelic
a teacher to the Russian Royal Family (another version of the story says "Prussian")
Note - this story applies to Catherine McNaughtan too.
The Scottish Bible Society says this:
**************
The New Testament was first translated into Scottish Gaelic by Rev James Stuart, minister of Killin, and published in 1767 - barely 20 years after the battle of Culloden. His son John, minister of Luss, was the main translator of the Old Testament, completed in 1801.
**************
I can find no evidence of any Dewar in connection with the Gaelic bible, around the time of this family but it is unlikely I will find people who undertook a minor role. Of course it might be there is a more distant relationship between Elisabeth and Rev James Stewart. There is a Neil Dewar who was involved in the 1902 Gaelic bible (with the SSPCK project starting in 1880)
The other family connections are even more difficult to evidence.
The data presented here are based on what seems to be the only sensible internet match for a baptism. The residence given at baptism is about 5 miles from where she is married, which seems not unreasonable. The parents then follow as the most sensible match, albeit that their marriage is a further 10 miles away. However, it is likely that James worked on large estates (of which Pitcastle is one), so the travel distances seem reasonable.
Assuming the parents are correct, the only obvious siblings I can find on the internet are
Margaret (bapt 12/1/1775)
Elspeth (bapt 2/11/1777)
there might reasonably be others given the gap before Elizabeth
