    Notes
    • There are 2 other baptisms, that might be possible children :-
Mary, 27/12/1748; but this refers to her being born at Ansty
      Elizabeth, 24/6/1751; in Hilton.

If the burial details for Martha are correct, then it would be strange but not impossible to live at Ansty for a short period. On the other hand, there do not seem to be any other John and Martha White, and having just 2 children would be unusual.

I have not found any other relevant marriage between John White and Martha in Hilton though of course there may be a couple married in a nearby village.

Lastly, there is the baptism and burial of Susannah White (daughter of John and Martha), on 5/1/1760. In the burial register it says "of Ansty".

    Notes
    • There is a considerable distance (15 miles on foot) from Winfrith, where Joseph comes from, to Hilton, where Martha had her church and they were married. However, this seems to be the most obvious match of the records available, and since their first child is baptised in Owermoigne, it suggests that they met in the Winfrith area, and returned to her home church for the wedding. I have therefore restricted the checks on Martha's baptism to very close to Hilton, with the results given

  • Notes
    • I have selected a baptism in Hilton for Martha. An alternative comes from Shillingstone (7 miles away), which has the distinct benefit that the father is Thomas (Thomas White is one of the witnesses to her marriage). However this baptism is 25 Mar 1732 which means she would be 40+ when Robert was born. Not impossible, and indeed attractive, but in the end picking a baptism in Hilton seems best.
