Notes - Given that there are no further children - at least up to 1847, it is assumed she died between 1834 and 1840. Further searching of the records suggests that the only option is somebody born in 1807.
The situation is complicated by the fact that there are 3 recorded marriages between different Sarah Wardles in Macclesfield in 1828. Two of them (our Sarah, and Sarah who married William SPEED) also have marriage allegations. However there is no obvious conclusion to be drawn about the age, and therefore the DOB, as they all state the bride is over 21.
The three Sarah Wardles were probably baptised in 1795, 1801 and 1807.
When we look at burials, there is a burial in 1837 of a Sarah Potts born in 1791, so the most likely option would therefore appear to be be that Sarah was born in 1807.
As to why Sarah and Peter went through the process of allegation, rather than having banns read, it is not clear. Perhaps the most likely is that Sarah was already pregnant with Samuel, but without a clear birth date for Samuel, this is speculation.
