Notes - There is of course a high degree of uncertainty in the details presented for Robert. Assuming that he was baptised between 1742 and 1768 (the latter making him 15 when he married, and the former making him 60 when his youngest child was born), and assuming that he was born within 10 miles of Heptonstall, then the available internet records have two possibilities. A variation of surnames and forenames has been used in this search.
1. Baptised 1759, as selected
2. Implicitly born 1762, as he was 87 when he was buried in 1849. Incidentally I can find no baptism record for this Robert, which is evidence, if any were needed, that there are likely to be other records not available and therefore other possible Robert Fielding/Fielden etc. This Robert is assumed to be the person aged "75" in the 1841 Census, and crucially in the same household as Mary, also aged "75". I believe this is more likely to be the Robert who married Mary Horsfall in 1785 (see the family notes), and therefore not our Robert.
His death is perhaps more speculative, but it does appear to be a possible record from the wills at the time - the document states he left less than £20. I have not yet found any burial records.
