• Notes

  In the baptism register it seems to say:- Betty Ann Bancroft Hob Coat, Wad. The reported father [unclear] Israel Hodgson Midghole Wad. [unclear] Hob Coat is later Hob Cote, and that is used here. The most likely story then is that she marries Jerimiah BURN (maybe BOWEN or BOURN) 15/10/1815 at St Thomas, Heptonstall. They married by licence, possibly because she was from Wadsworth, maybe because he was a "cotton manufacturer" and therefore relatively well off, but not as far as I can see because she was pregnant and wanted it done quickly. She appears to have died (or was buried) 10/4/1827.
