Notes - James was a member of the "Duddo Patrol" ( a total of 8 men, farmers and farm workers) which was based just North of Ford and Etal, and was part of a network of "Auxiliary Units" whose role appears to be to disrupt and attack a putative German invasion once the Home Guard and regular soldiers had been defeated. The group that James was part of was disbanded in Dec 1944. There is more information at https://www.staybehinds.com/patrol/duddo-patrol
