• Notes

  There is no certainty about what happens to Agnes. Within South Tawton, or 5 miles walk of the centre, there is a burial in 1724 and 1735, and a marriage to John JACKMAN in 1729. There is an added difficulty as another Agnes BATTISHILL was baptised (to Richard and Elizabeth) in 1703. Internet trees favour a marriage in Chagford (6miles on foot) to John STAWTE, but I can see no reason for choosing this option.
