  • Notes
    • It is not clear what happened after 1861. There is a Grace Brown as a servant in Edinburgh in 1871, aged 19, and birthplace Carnwath, which is reasonably close, but is not particularly definite. It is also possible that she marries David INGLIS and has a daughter Janet Brown Inglis at the 1881 Census in Lanark, and then 1891 and 1901 in Lanark with them both managing the Poor House. But I can find no record of her marrying David, and so it is more difficult to see if this later life is likely.
