• Notes

  Ann's birth is uncertain. The best possibilities are either bapt 8/5/1854 daughter of Richard and Mary, or 8/8/1755 daughter of Marke and Anne. In both cases she is written as Anne. Although there are records of the North Tawton typhoid fever in 1839-40, it seems likely that Typhoid was the cause of death here - but it is less well noticed as Budd, the physician who reported on the 1839-40 outbreak was not here. The burial records indicate a wide range of ages being buried, and this also supports the notion that there was a widespread illness.
