Notes - Finding his parents is not easy. With IGI there are too many possibilities, even assuming he was right in the 1841 Census with his birth 1773. I can find nobody born to an Archibald (Alex's oldest son), but the next son Robert shares a name with Robert Menzies who marries Margaret ANDERSON, and they had a son James, bapt 1773 in Weem. Probably too tenuous to be of any real accuracy though. Hence the selected details of somebody born in 1774, for which there is some agreement on the trees on the web.
