    Notes
    • Maybe married at the Methodist New Connection Chapel. No records for either on IGI at Jan 2000.

The family story is that Laura's family thought he was not worthy of her daughter (he was probably still a miner, or at least a very insignificant white collar worker), and told Laura to break off the engagement and look for better prospects. However she was so unhappy that the family gave in, and supported (or were much happier about?) the wedding.

He is photographed sitting on a chair presented to the best children's choir at an Eisteddfod. However the details of which Eisteddfod, and when have proved difficult to determine

    • Also worked in Slate Quarries.

There is a story that he was the recipient of the Bardic Chair at a national Eisteddfod for the childrens choir he conducted as there was no-one thought to be worthy of the chair for their poetry. However this does not appear to fit the available facts - see separate document.

He seems to have been known in the family as Griffith Dulyn Davies, but the only document where I can find this is where he is a witness to Hubert's marriage to Elsie.
