  Marries Mary Jane MELLOR 09 Dec 1896. This is believed to be correct given the quoted father's name, and the evidence from the 1901 Census. It is of course possible that this is a different Harry, but this does seem to be the most likely. Certainly there is no obvious evidence of death and so the 1901 Census is significant. It is not clear what happens after 1921. The birth registration is definitely Q4 1876 in Macclesfield as it has his mother's maiden name correct. There is no obvious death record before 1939, and then the only 1939 Register that makes sense is in Bury, where he is given as a retired Police Inspector. The role as an Inspector is quite a jump in 18 years from a Brewery Cellar Manager, but it is the only record where there is a wife called Mary. The given birth date of 17/9/1876 is suffiently close to October, that his birth may not have been registered until then.
