  John's death location is unclear, but it is clearly close to Dolgellau as the writing just says something like "Clogwynmau/mawr". There is no obvious place like it near or in Dolgellau, but it is assumed to be Clogwyn Mawr, which means something like "large cliff" and if so is presumably a house or farm near one of the steep rock faces near the town.
