Notes - It is not clear where Robert was born. The 1851 Census is hard to read, but it seems most likely it says "Ynyscynhaiarn", just inland from Portmadoc. There is a possible baptism register entry for 26 Mar 1837, at Ynyscynhaiarn, for Robert son of Robert. It gives the abode as Portmadoc, which indeed is where the 1841 Census takes place and where is next older sibling was born. The slight problem is that it gives his occupation as "Inkeeper", rather than "Mason" that he is in the Censusses. It is possible that his father Robert was always a mason, but in 1837 life was such that he had to run an Inn......
However there is reasonable cause to say that the place of birth was Portmadoc, and this is what is used here.
