      This implies he emigrated between the 1901 census and Mary's birth....

      Data on transatlantic trip seems to be from Liverpool to New York 23/04/04 - he is 29, she 25, and an infant (>1) called "Jap"??? The 1920 Census data from the US says he arrived 1903.

      Ancestry has him in the Pennsylvania 1940 Census.

      Still some confusion, but best match on marriage seems to be Oct qtr 1902, Festiniog
