Notes - Possibly baptised 26/7/1790, from Llanfihangel Y Traethan in Merionethshire.
The story of Catherine's early life is a reasonable deduction from the different records. The Census information makes it clear that her son William was born in London, consistent with the family story. The baptism matches the names of twins to a mother, and the father matching the only sensible marriage between a Catherine and a DAVIES in London. For me the key is that this marriage says Catherine was a widow and her signature is very similar to the earlier marriage to an ELLIS. There is a reasonable death of John ELLIS and hence her later marriage. The baptism of William and Thomas gives Catherine's birth name which is then in the marriage to John. Of course there are ways in which this story could be wrong, but on balance it seems very likely.
