    • William's navy records says

He was a carpenter, and I think his first posting (or he started) with the Royal Navy was 1 Nov 1864. So in the marriage notice he is William George Hull RN. He was promoted to Carpenter 2nd Class on 1 Apr 1870.

It is not obvious what he was doing from 1 Nov 1864 to 13 Mar 1869, presumably he had a role onshore.
He was carpenter on board "Fancy Fawn" from 13/3/1869 to 23/2/1870
on ?"Unicorn" from 24/2/1870 to 19/3/1875 (?posted overseas?)
on "Favorite" from 12/10/1875 till he was posted overseas 20 Dec 1876. During this time she was a First Reserve Guardship off the East coast of Scotland (hence the birth location of son Leonarrd)
on "Aboukir" 7/4/1877 to 20/8/1877... in Jamaica Yard?
on "Urgent" 21/8/1877 till his death .... in Jamaica Yard?
at Jamaica Yard 7/4/1877 till his death.

The records note he was "promoted for XXXXXXXX". Also alongside the Jamaica posting line, that "Capt ?Maddox? is recommending him for Jamaica says he is well spoken of XXXXXX good certificates"
He died of Yellow Fever 19 Mar 1878.
