The Merchant Navy details from 1845 also say that he had a dark complexion, Brown hair, Hazel eyes, 5' 7.25" high. First went to sea as a boy in 1830, and served in the Royal Navy for 9 years.
Assuming he died between 1851 and 1861 there are several possibilities in the BMD records for East London.
