  Parents given as Richard and Mary. Note - there is another Jane DEAN baptised in Holdenhurst 9/10/1808 to Richard and Rebecca. Richard and Rebecca are 55 at the 1841 Census for Holdenhurst, and probably married 28 Jun or 2 Jul 1807 in Kingstone (Kingston?) according to IGI. There is no obvious way to decide between the two options. The other Jane DEAN most probably married Robert TROKE in Holdenhurst 9/3/1837. It is conceivable that by tracking this Jane the identity of the parents will become obvious. (Lastly note IGI has another Jane DEAN d of Robert who married at Buriton in 1837 but this is some distance from Holdenhurst). In the 1871 Census for Jane and Robert TROKE (in Holdenhurst) is Louisa DEAN, a nephew. From the 1861 and other censusses she is the daughter or John and Louisa DEAN, ie John DEAN is the brother of Jane TROKE (nee DEAN) ( and is b abt 1823 in Christchurch). The best match by far to this is John Dean b 3/1/1823 to Robert and Jane (ADLEY) and bapt at Christchurch Aug 1823. This is therefore at variance with the baptism of Jane DEAN above. Of course this is all relevant only if I have picked the wrong Jane DEAN. I still do not think there is clear evidnence for the parents of my Jane. I have picked the child of Richard and Mary on the slim evidence of birth date being better correlated to later censuses, and thus is not very conclusive.
