351 He married Julia Ann COOK, St Bartholomew's Church, Portsea 26/9/1907. VEY, Harry William (I1062)

352 He marries Ada WALLS 11/7/1891 - most details are reasonable, he as a metallurgist (esp noting the other occupants of 1891 Census), father William as a land surveyor. Address not expected (Wandsworth) but believable.
They then seem to emigrate to the USA in 1895
WARWICK, Arthur William (I620)

353 He marries Alice Maud LITTLEFIELD on 22/8/1926 at St Philips Church, Battersea. His occupation is given as "Shop Assistant"

At the 1939 Register, Alice's surname is crossed to say HAYLETT, and so William presumably dies soon after 1939.
THORPE, William David Charles (I626)

354 He marries Amelia Maria BATEMAN Jul qtr 1929, Lambeth. WEBB, William Henry Victor (I126)

355 He marries Beatrice PAYNE 21/11/1897 at St Ann's Tottenham.

At the 1911 Census, he reports 9 children, all of whom were still alive
GUY, William (I1021)

356 He probably married Anne WONNACOTT 21/10/1853, and possibly appears in the Land Tax register of 1798, for 16 shillings and 4 pence - there being no other obvious James Jackman's in the area at the time.

If so Anne lived 1753 to 1804, all in South Tawton.
JACKMAN, James (I737)

357 He probably married Hannah Elizabeth JEFFREY (nee BARTLE) (?1853-1908), 30/3/1904 - this is where the step daughter and son in law mentioned in the 1911 Census come in.... ELLIS, William Arthur (I801)

358 He was 18 when he died (accident presumably) HARDING, Edmund Frederick (I1197)

359 He was 28 when he died BENNETT, John (I878)

360 he was 58 when he died BEECH, Hugh (I1142)

361 He was 63 when he died BENNETT, Solon (I609)

362 He was 72 when he died COOMBE, Henry (I843)

363 He was 74 when he died BENNETT, John (I863)

364 He was admitted to Princes Road Workhouse, with his mother and brother Charles 26 Dec 1854 aged 3m.

Marries Jane HERD 28/3/1875 at St Thomas, Lambeth
CLISBY, George (I300)

365 He was aged 21 when he was buried HULL, Thomas (I1200)

366 He was employed by the London and NW Railway company, joining them as a Junior Porter on 24 Oct 1903, at Verney Junction in Buckinghamshire. He appears to have been transferred from Swanbourne (also Buckinghamshire), joining there on 17 May 1902 and then transferred to ??Euston Ebton?? on 14 Jul 1904. Records unclear... On 21 Oct 1904 he is working at Willesden as a Parcel Porter, having been transferred from ???Exton V V.... Junct? on 19/7/04. He is dismissed on 2 Nov 1905. His height is given as 5ft 6.5in.

He was worth £18498 when he died. Benefactors were John Jackman (the younger), ie his cousin, and nothing to any of his siblings, and a solicitor

He was married (Q3, 1911) to Rosina Jane (?nee BURROWS) when he died. He died the same day as his uncle Frank. His death was following a long illness according to the funeral report on 26/8/1912.

Rosina married William WATTS in Q2 1925, and appears in the 1939 Register (DOB 19/8/1892), bapt Cheriton Fitzpain 6/10/1893, which allows a census check for 1901 which matches the mourners in the funeral report. The reason for going into this is her father was John Alfred Burrows, a farmer born 1848. Her eldest brother Alfred John, b 1880, was also probably a farmer, and so may well be the ancestor of the Burrows family who farmed the fields at Bow.
JACKMAN, Albert (I655)

367 He was killed in action while a 2/Lt in the 7th Btn, The Royal Fusiliers, and remembered at the Arras memorial. He was promoted to 2/Lt just before his death.

The University College (London) roll of war dead says this :- "killed in action by a sniper during a bombing raid near Gavrelle". Gavrelle was the site of the battle of Arras from 9/4/1917 to 16/5/1917.
JUNIPER, John Harvey (I1017)

368 he was living at 44, Heyshott Road, Southsea VEY, Harry William (I1062)

369 He went into partnership with Edward William CLARKE (apparently with Edward as the Senior Partner) as manufacturing Boot and Shoes at 108 Southampton Row. It was dissolved 29/9/1883.

He left £11711 (in 1930) to Bertram John PENNIKET (one of his sons) and Harold John MUSSELWHITE.

Deceasedonline gives a burial date of 27/3/1930 in Islington
PENNIKET, Alfred Frank (I654)

370 Henry John ALLEN does appear in Hertfordshire in the 1881 and 1891 Censuses (aged 10 and 20 respectively), son of Samuel and Elizabeth (nee BALL based on the burial records - his parents died in 1930 and 1931 respectively). But in 1891 he is a farm labourer. This is consistent with his occupation as labourer when he married and also marr cert has Samuel as father. ALLEN, Henry John (I38)

371 Henry married Winifred Grace LEE, 18/6/1921, Hackney. The following day was the 1921 Census, so their location, in Hastings, is presumably their honeymoon location. STAPLETON, William Henry (I313)

372 Henry's marriage has no information on his father, which is consistent with a lack of presence in other records.

His mother Grace, according to the baptism records is there (widowed) with other children in the 1851 Census. However the other children appear to have different parentage. Further work is required to understand this more.
COOMBE, Henry (I843)

373 Her home was 54, Osmond Road, Hove VEY, Edith Mary (I1067)

374 Her home was 66, Hemberton Road, Clapham when she died ELLIS, Jessie (I731)

375 Her later life is predicated on the likely marriage with William BORLEY in Stow, Q3 1877. The later censuses are consistent with this, but there is a risk that this assumption is wrong. OTTLEY, Sophia (I350)

376 Her place of birth is not clear, but "Old Brompton" has been picked from the Censusses as Old Brompton is the original small settlement immediately outside the Naval Yard, later subsumed into Brompton, and thus appears to be more precise than the generic "Chatham".

She married Ernest ROGERS 10/9/1904
The 1911 Census identifies children aged 3 born in England and one of 2m born in Ireland

ANDERSON, Jessie Helen Isabel (I884)

377 Her will of £151 was left to Mary Ann Hubbard, a widow. Is this Mary AnnHowe - who appears in the Bow census of 1891 and 1901? HOWE, Fanny (I904)

378 His merchant navy records say he was a 5th Engineer, 5' 6", blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion with no distinguishing marks. It is not clear how long he was in the Navy, but he only served on one ship, and he was discharged on or by 13/5/1922. At the 1921 Census, he is employed at the dockyard, so it is presumably after that (19/6/1921 to be exact) that he served in the Merchant Navy.

When he signed his discharge papers and for much of his life following, he was known as Clive Juniper.

From 1924 to 1931 he was at Speltham, Hambledon, with Edward and Annie Juniper.

When he died he was married to Olive May SILVESTER (Q1 1934, Droxford, Hants). The Portsmouth Evening News of 17 Mar 1934 says that he was married in Hambleton on 14th March.
JUNIPER, Norman Clive (I1096)

379 His naval records state that he was 5' 7" with brown hair, grey eyes and a fair complexion. First went to sea in 1840 and by 10 June 1846 had spent 4yrs 8 months in the Royal Navy. His home was given as Weymouth. These records give his DOB as 1825. However the later CG records say 1826, and this is picked as more likely to be the case, given his baptism.

Further records give his career as follows:-
28/8/1841 aged 17 - HMS Warspite - to 22/4/1846. Not sure what happened between this and the date of 10/6/1846 above
Coastguard 22/4/1846 to 10/2/1854
HMS Blenheim 10/2/1854 to 30/4/1856
Coastguard thereafter.

The 1841 Census seems generally right - it says occupation "Navy" in 1841 (6th June), with an age of 14, which is not completely consistent, but seems more likely than not.

From 1854 to 1856 it is almost certain that Charles had rejoined, or been called up to help with the Crimean War. The website www.pdavis.nl has much useful information including the following:-

HMS Blenheim was a steam powered, originally launched as a sailing ship and converted to steam by 1847. On 6 Mar 1854, it alongside a considerable flotilla, mustered at Spithhead (Portsmouth) to sail to the Baltic. This was part of a campaign to ensure that no Russian ships made it to Denmark, Sweeden and the North Sea, and to blockade St Petersburg etc from imports. However as far as I can see, this campaign was through by 1855, and I am not sure what the ship did thereafter.

Later records for service with the coast guard has him working on "?Hector? (CG), Brighton" from 1 Jan 1873 to 22 Aug 1876. It also notes a burn on his right elbow, so perhaps something that happened after 1840.

Internet sites have a copy of a death certificate saying he died 1/12/1907 at Preston, Brighton.
VEY, Charles (I1069)

380 His occupation at 1881 of "Corn Chandler" is essentially a dealer in "corn" and more generally any grain. The address in 1881 is presumably a shop selling grain, probably to animal farmers. EADES, William (I1116)

381 home address at the time of his death was 3, Queens Rd., Berkhamstead BARBER, Henry Arthur (I175)

382 home address at the time of his death was 62, Hockley Ave., East Ham, Essex GARNER, William George (I1290)

383 Home given as 63, Puller Rd., Boxmoor FOSKETT, Charles (I84)

384 home was 23, Norfolk Road, Thornton Heath AYLWARD, Emily Agnes (I115)

385 Hubert's name features in the Land Tax assessment of 1827 for the Crown Inn, "Longcotts, Wareham". I have found it difficult to locate Longcotts, let alone the pub. Longcotts would seem to be in the Winfrith/Wool/Lulworth area, but this is unclear.

Another random internet search turned up the name of Samuel COX (note their grandaughter's name) as a victualler in April 1768 in Longcotts (see http://burgesses.info/burgess_dorset/payne_and_militia.html).
Family: Hubert WILLIS / Jane VEY (F404)

386 I am not sure this person exists. I think the 1871 Census saying 11m should be for her sister Elizabeth, who would be 11, especially as the sister does not appear to be obvious in 1871 DESBOROUGH, Elizabeth (I544)

387 I assume she died before 1861 as there is no obvious record from 1861 onwards. The only obvious record is of an Elizabeth Morris, aged 2 3/4 being buried in Aug 1853 (so about right), but in Woolwich. There is no obvious reason for the family being in Woolwich at this time. MORRIS, Emily Elizabeth (I1348)

388 I believe he is variously Robert Charles (at birth), and Charles Robert (at marriage) and sometimes just Charles.

He has two baptism dates, but I believe it is one person, two baptisms as there is no record of a death and the census info is consistent with a single child. The second baptism also has his sister, so it seems possible that there was confusion as to whether Robert was baptised or not, and was baptised (again).

The best match on death (indeed the only match) is 1880. The facts for this make sense, so I assume that the 1881 Census is incorrect (presumably Charlotte gave his details and they were entered without him being present)
MONGER, Robert Charles (I46)

389 I can find little about Elsie, however she does witness her brother's marriage in 1926. THORPE, Elsie (I628)

390 I can find no other evidence for Jenny. KNOWLING, Jenny (I676)

391 I can find no record of Shadrach's baptism, back to 1790 when Ruth was born, and more generally on internet searches checking back to 1780, and for all baptisms to Freeman. Given that the burial mentions his parents, I assume he died young, and therefore most likely was born after Ruth, hence suggesting 1792 as birth date. FREEMAN, Shadrach (I220)

392 I can find no sensible record on the internet for this. There are numerous PUXLEYs baptised in Honing, 23 miles away from Shotesham, but not far from Mundesley etc. But no John. The most suitable would be John bapt Erpingham, also 23 miles away from Mundesley, in 1699. That would make him very old when he died, and even when Skoyles was born, so it is more likely that there are no available records.
Internet trees suggest that his parents were John and Honour.
PUXLEY, John (I940)

393 I have selected a baptism in Hilton for Martha. An alternative comes from Shillingstone (7 miles away), which has the distinct benefit that the father is Thomas (Thomas White is one of the witnesses to her marriage). However this baptism is 25 Mar 1732 which means she would be 40+ when Robert was born. Not impossible, and indeed attractive, but in the end picking a baptism in Hilton seems best. WHITE, Martha (I924)

394 I think that the name has been written down wrongly for Martha's baptism as there is no obvious William DISCOMB/DISCOMBE/DISCOOMB/E in the available records.

One possibility is William DISCUM who marries Mary Lee 2/4/1749 Crediton.

But the one given here seems more likely - everybody is in the same village etc.
DISKIN, William (I886)

395 I think the baptism information may be confused with the apparently elder brother William. There is no obvious burial record for the "other" William, and if he had died, he must have been quite old to be baptised in Dec 1783, when this William was born in Jan 1784. However it must be stressed that the birth date is based on his baptism aged 3y 5m, so there is plenty of opportunity for transcription errors. COCKSEDGE, William (I1322)

396 If Joseph is alive in 1851, he is probably aged 63, widower, Shoemaker, with daughters Ann and Elizabeth, living in St Pancras, in which case he probably died in 1867, though I cannot find anything in the 1841 or 1861 Census. But this may very definitely not be him.

What is clear that the family trees on the internet with him living at Tavistock is not him, it is a Joseph bapt in Lamerton in 1786.
JACKMAN, Joseph (I733)

397 If the bapt details for his son William are correct (see details under William), there are no obvious weddings to Sarah, other than at St Anne, Soho on 14/8/1815, and this seems unlikely, especially as Henry signs himself in this wedding. However the way the name is written looks identical to the rector's writing, so it is possible that he did not sign the register. There is no evidence of a Henry married to Sarah in the 1841 (or 51) censuses, but of course he may not have been married, or she might have died.

There is an entry in 1851 census (aged 71, widowed, formerly a labourer) at St Paul Shadwell. So this is consistent, but not conclusive. This gives a number of possibilities. Not a complete match but one is death 15/6/1856 Stepney aged aged 71

Other than that, the best option might be a death in Q1 1841 Stepney.
WEBB, Henry (I25)

398 IGI and others suggest Maud is Maud Molly and she lived from 1640 to 1713, but there is no other evidence for this.
See notes on Thomas.
There is a Maud Jackman buried 1686, but this is closer to Plymouth. I can find no other Maud (or similar names) buried in the right timescale on the internet.
GRAY, Maude (I695)

399 IGI baptism transcript says Caroline Poxley Juniper, but presumed to be a mistake either at transcription or when put in originally. Shalfleet baptism transcript also says this.
See notes on Edward regarding the birth location. Peter is described as a "mariner" now.

Probable death Steyning, Oct 1915 qtr, vol 2b, p348 aged 90
JUNIPER, Caroline Woolmer (I916)

400 IGI has this person as John, assumed to be in error HUNT, William (I461)
